At Adelaide Therapeutic Services we are deeply passionate about providing therapy to teens. We believe that safe support can make a lasting difference in a young person's life.
We believe everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and empowered and we are committed to creating a safe, supportive space where they can grow, heal and thrive.
We understand that adolescence is a critical stage of development, marked by emotional, social and psychological changes. Social Work therapy provides a holistic approach that addresses both the emotional and social challenges young people face during adolescence. This stage of life often comes with rapid changes, identity exploration, and increased pressures from school, peers, and family and we aim to provides a safe, supportive environment where teens can build emotional awareness, develop coping strategies, improve communication skills, and strengthen their sense of self.
For teens living with a disability, who have experienced childhood trauma or have psychosocial challenges, therapy can play a key role in building independence, self-esteem, resilience, and social participation. Through tailored interventions, therapy supports teens to manage symptoms, enhance daily functioning, and improve overall quality of life. For NDIS participants, psychosocial therapy with a Social Worker can be an essential support funded under Capacity Building supports, helping them work towards their goals in areas such as mental health, relationships, education, and community engagement.

Intake sessions provide parents with an opportunity to discuss their teens strengths and challenges and to further understand what the sessions will look like. A Therapy Treatment Plan will be provided following the intake appointment and regular appointments will be scheduled.
We recommend that teens do not attend intake sessions unless they are old enough to understand their own needs for therapy and make their own decisions.
